How to remove the smell of new carpets?Posted by Silenti in Smell solution , smell , odor , New smell , Natural Ingredients , fragrance , Bad smell |
I just bought a new carpet. It gives a new fresh look to my office, but it smells so intensive. The smell of the various chemicals used to treat them in the manufacturing plant as well as the glue used to attach them on the floor. The smell could be mildly irritating for some of my costumers or being a cause of respiratory problems for others. But I found out that there are several methods you could use to eliminate this smell. With enough diligence the smell could disappear in two to three days.
By sprinkling baking soda on the carpet. Baking soda is often used to neutralize smells. I left the powder on the carpet for at least 3 hours and then vacuum it up. The smell was amazing less. Than I eliminate the still staying new carpet smell with houseplants. I read that plants absorb smells in the environment. Not all plants. I used aloe vera and ficus. After one week the whole new carpet smell was vanished. The next week I plant the plants outside, and my garden now has also a new carpet :-) and the smell of my new carpet inside my office is totally vanished. Only the smell of visiting clients remaining with the mix of my own fragrance.
